Adam C. LePosa, OD, FAAO

Dr. LePosa serves as an attending optometrist, as well as the supervisor for both the optometry residency and student programs at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society.

Adam Provost, OD

Dr. Provost graduated from New England College of Optometry in 2022 and then completed an ocular disease residency at VA Boston Jamaica Plain from 2022-2023. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Optometry at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, and an attending optometrist at the W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Allison Mina Choi

Dr. Choi attended Berkeley Optometry followed by a residency in primary care/ocular disease at the Portland VA. She worked in private practice for a few years before joining Alcon’s medical affairs team. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Amara Callahan, OD

Dr. Callahan graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry and is a staff optometrist and student supervisor at the Vancouver Division of the Portland VA Medical Center. She enjoys baking, traveling and paddle boarding with her husband and two daughters.

Amrit Singh

Amy Knapke, OD, FAAO

Dr. Knapke graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2010. She completed a primary care residency at the Dayton VA Medical Center in 2010-2011 and subsequently became a staff optometrist at their Lima Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

Ana Bonaldi, OD, FAAO

Dr. Ana Bonaldi earned her optometry degree from MCPHS, where she graduated salutatorian, and completed an ocular disease residency at the Boston Department of Veteran Affairs. She then joined UMass Memorial as an instructor in the department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, where she is in clinic and also teaches ophthalmology residents.

Andrew J. Crist, OD, FAAO

Dr. Crist graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and completed an ocular disease residency at VA Central Ohio and Chillicothe VA Medical Center. He practices at VA Central Ohio – Chalmers P. Wylie Chalmers P. Wylie Veterans Outpatient Clinic in Columbus, OH. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor for The Ohio State University College of Optometry and is certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry.

Aprile Doubt, OD, MS

Dr. Doubt graduated from the Ohio State University with a dual degree of Doctorate of Optometry and Masters of Vision Science in 2024. Afterwards, she went on to complete a residency in ocular disease, low vision and specialty contact lenses at Ralph H. Johnson VAMC in Charleston, SC.

Benjamin Graham, OD, FAAO, ABCMO

Dr. Graham received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry and completed a residency at Togus VA in Maine. He practiced full-scope medical Optometry at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and then UCLA Stein Eye Institute before joining the Sacramento VA.

Benjamin Young, OD, FAAO

Dr. Young has been on the faculty at the New England College of Optometry since 2018 after he completed an Ocular Disease and Primary Care Residency at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital. In addition to seminar, clinical and laboratory teaching, he is Instructor of Record for the Principles and Practice of Optometry-I course.

Brett Garee OD, MS, FAAO

Dr. Garee graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and completed his ocular disease residency at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He practices at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor for The Ohio State University College of Optometry.

Caitlyn E. Raia, OD

Dr. Caitlyn Raia completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Dance minor at Muhlenberg College in 2018. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree with Advanced Studies in Contact Lenses from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2022 and completed her residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation from the VA New Jersey Health Care System in 2023.

Dr. Gilbertson Kuiken is an attending optometrist at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she completed her ocular disease residency in 2012. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and maintains ABCMO certification.

Carlota Andreu-Arasa MD, PhD

V. Carlota Andreu Arasa, MD, PhD is an assistant professor in Radiology at Boston University School of Medicine and an experienced neuroradiologist. Dr. Andreu obtained her medical degree and her PhD and Complutense University in Madrid, Spain, where she completed her Radiology Residency. She trained at Boston University School of Medicine, where she completed her Neuroradiology fellowship and a Body imaging fellowship.

Celina Villarreal, OD, FAAO, Diplomate of the ABO

Graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, Magna Cum Laude with over 20 years of experience as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist with an emphasis in diabetic, glaucoma, and specialty contact lens optometric eye care. Currently working as Supervisor Optometrist at VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System and serves as an adjunct professor for the University of Texas Health Science Center Long School of Medicine.

Christina Kim, OD

Dr. Kim graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry in 2019. She completed a primary care and ocular disease residency at VA Portland Health Care System. She now has returned to the Bay Area where she provides refractive eye care.

Cory Siegel, MD

Dr. Cory Siegel is a board-certified Diagnostic Radiologist, with subspecialty board certification in Diagnostic Neuroradiology. He currently serves as the Section Chief of Neuroradiology in the Radiology Department at the VA Boston Healthcare System.

Danielle Toms, OD

Danielle Toms, OD graduated from NOVA Southeastern College of Optometry in 2014 and completed her residency at the Kansas City VAMC in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation. She has been employed at the Kansas City VAMC since she completed residency in 2015, starting at the Warrensburg CBOC before moving to the main hospital as the Clinical Lead of the Visual Impairment Services Program. She currently serves as the Clinical Lead of Tele-eye and TECS at the KCVA and is ABO certified.

Dr. Dipti Singh graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 2001. After graduation, she completed Residency in Primary Care Optometry with Emphasis in Ocular Disease at James H. Quillen Mountain Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 2002. She is currently working at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Singh is currently the Ocular Disease Coordinator for Residency in Brain Injury Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Disease at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital.

Doug Rett OD, FAAO, ABCMO

Dr. Rett is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical Optometry and the secretary for the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. He is the Chief of Optometry at VA Boston and sits on the national Field Advisory Board for Tele Eyecare at the VA. He is adjunct clinical faculty at several optometry schools, lectures nationally and enjoys writing about eyecare whenever and wherever.

Elizabeth Phillips, OD

Dr. Elizabeth Phillips graduated from UMSL College of Optometry in 2016. The following year she completed her ocular disease and low vision residency at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, where she currently works, teaching students and residents. She is board certified in medical optometry (ABCMO) and is pursuing her fellowship with AAO this fall.

Emely Miniño Soto is a second year at the New England College of Optometry. She graduated in 2020 from Mount Holyoke College where she studied in Biology, Psychology and Educational Policy and Practice.

Emily Humphreys, OD, FAAO

Emily Humphreys is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry at the New England College of Optometry (NECO). In addition to her clinical assignment, she also teaches Neuroanatomy and Clinical Medicine at NECO. Her clinical interests include neuro-ophthalmic disease, glaucoma, and ocular manifestations of systemic disease.

Emily R. Carr, OD, FAAO

Dr. Carr is a 2016 PCO graduate and completed residency in 2017 at the Wilmington VA Medical Center in Wilmington, DE. She returned on staff in Wilmington in 2019 and is now the student externship coordinator. She has an affinity for all things ocular disease, especially glaucoma, retinal disease, and neuro.

Dr. Lee is a 2006 Southern College of Optometry graduate and completed his residency in Primary Eye Care the following year at the Memphis VAMC. He is an AAO Fellow and ABCMO certified. Dr. Lee has been an attending optometrist at the Jackson CBOC since 2009.

Grace L. Tsan, OD, FAAO is the Assistant Chief of Optometry at the VA Health Care System, Portland, OR. She is board certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. Her areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, glaucoma, ocular syphilis, and central serous chorioretinopathy.

Harry Levine, MD, MPH

Dr. Harry Levine is originally from Mexico City, Mexico and is currently an ophthalmology resident at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He graduated from medical school from the University of Miami, FL where he also completed a master’s in public health. His research interests include ocular surface disease, corneal transplantation, and the use of artificial intelligence in anterior segment. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, gardening, and cycling.

Iva Hoxha, OD

Dr. Hoxha is a dedicated optometrist who graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2022 and is currently completing a residency in ocular disease at VA Boston, Jamaica Plain 2023. With a keen interest in anterior segment disorders, peripheral retina, neuro-optometry, public health and clinical education, Dr. Hoxha is excited to bring her expertise and passion to Atrius Health, where she will soon be joining as a primary care optometrist.

Dr. Koskey graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry and completed her ocular disease residency at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. Dr. Koskey holds various adjunct faculty appointments, and is board certified through the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. She has spent most of her career serving Veterans, and currently works as a staff optometrist at the Eugene VA Health Care Center in Oregon.

Jennifer T. Elder, OD, FAAO

Jennifer Elder, OD, FAAO received her optometric education at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She went on to complete a residency at the Memphis VAMC. After residency, she was an associate at an ophthalmology/optometry practice in rural middle Tennessee. In 2020, she joined the Memphis VAMC at their community based outpatient clinic in Jackson, TN. She now resides in Jackson and spends her time outside of clinic with her husband and three young boys.

Joey Kalec, OD

Dr. Kalec graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2022. The next year he completed a residency in primary care with an emphasis in ocular disease at the Valley Coastal Bend VA in Harlingen/McAllen, Texas. He is currently a staff optometrist with the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in Austin, Texas. A veteran himself, Dr Kalec was deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving aboard ship in the United States Navy, until his Honorable discharge in 2005.

Dr. Blake received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley in 2007. From there, she went on to complete the cornea and contact lens residency program at New England College of Optometry. She had spent the majority of her career in community health prior to pursuing opportunities in medical affairs.

Kelly Singleton, OD, MS

Dr. Singleton received her OD and MS degrees from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Optometry and completed her residency in Low Vision/Vision Rehabilitation at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She has enjoyed an extensive optometry career including owning her own practice with her husband and serving as the national physician liaison for an eyecare specific EHR company. She currently serves as the Residency Supervisor at the RHJ VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC and is an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. In her free time, she enjoys competitive dragon boating and traveling the world with her husband and four children.

Kelsey Jordan, OD, MS, FAAO

Dr. Jordan graduated from The New England College of Optometry in 2017 with a combined OD/MS degree. She then completed an ocular disease/primary care residency at the Boston VA, Jamaica Plain campus from 2017-2018, where she is now an attending optometrist and contact lens clinic lead. The author received his MS and PhD at the University of Iowa. He and his wife traveled to Tbilisi (Georgia) USSR, 1976-77, for his post-doctoral research, vegetation in the Caucasus since the last Ice Age.

Kimberly Winges, MD

Dr. Kimberly Winges is a neuro-ophthalmologist who practices comprehensive/cataract surgery and neuro-ophthalmology at the VA Portland Health Care System, serves as the Assistant Chief of Surgery at the VA, and is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Neurology at the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health & Science University.

Kristina Treml, O.D.

Dr. Treml is a staff Optometrist at the Wilmington/Dover VA Medical Center. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from PCO at Salus University in 2020 and went on to complete her Ocular Disease Residency at the Wilmington VAMC in 2021. Dr. Treml prides herself in her ability to diagnose and manage an array of ocular diseases, while still providing excellent primary care services to her veteran patients.

Kyle D Klute, OD, FAAO

Dr. Klute owns and practices at Good Life Eyecare, a multi-location practice in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. He writes and lectures on primary eye care practice management, evidence-based medicine, glaucoma, and dry eye disease.

Leon Nguyen, OD, FAAO

Dr. Nguyen received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed post-doctoral residency in ocular disease, primary care, and low vision at James H. Quillen VAMC. Dr. Nguyen also completed Optometric Medical Retina Fellowship at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers, Advanced Competence in Medical Optometry, and anterior segment laser certification. He is a co-founder of Retina Rocks and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is currently a senior optometrist at the Lawton North VA Outpatient Clinic in Fort Sill, OK.

Leslie Wilderson, OD, FAAO

Leslie R. Wilderson, OD, FAAO, Dipl AAO, graduated from the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, completed a Primary Eyecare Residency, and is board certified in medical optometry (ABCMO). Dr. Wilderson is an American Academy of Optometry Fellow, American Academy of Optometry Diplomate in the Comprehensive Eye Care Section, and Journal of Medical Optometry Editorial Board member. She is on the optometry staff at the Northeast Ohio VA and serves in the Air Force Reserve.

Lindsay Agro, OD, FAAO, Dipl. ABO

Lindsay Agro, OD, FAAO, Dipl. ABO received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 2014 and went on to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2018. After two years in primary care practice, she sought further education and completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. A Florida native, she is now living and practicing in Baltimore, MD with a focus on co-management of glaucoma and retina. Dr. Agro is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Iris, and training to run her next marathon.

Loren W. Bennett, OD, MPH, FAAO, ABCMO

Dr. Bennett graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1988 and completed his ocular disease residency with the VA in Columbus and Chillicothe Ohio in 1989. He received his fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 1994. He has been with the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center since 1990, and is currently the optometric residency program director.

Michelle C Martin, MD

Dr Martin is a double-board certified practicing Vascular Surgeon at the Boston VA. She practices the full scope of Vascular Surgery, using both open and advanced endovascular techniques to treat arterial occlusive disease, aneurysms, and venous disease.

Dr. Molly Phan earned her Doctor of Optometry Degree from University of Houston in 2004 and completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry at Portland VA from 2004-2005 where she now serves as Chief of the Optometry Section. Ravneet K. Meeta, OD

Dr. Meeta graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and completed an ocular disease residency at VA Central Ohio and Chillicothe VA Medical Center. She currently practices at Center For Sight in Newark, OH.

Rebecca Czerwinski, OD, FAAO

Dr. Rebecca Czerwinski earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 2002 and went on to complete a residency in Primary Care Optometry at Portland VA from 2002-2003. She then spent 4 years working in a co-management setting in a private practice, returning to the Portland VA as full-time staff since 2008. During her tenure, Dr. Czerwinski has served as Student Program Supervisor, VISN 20 Grand Rounds coordinator, member of the NAVAO membership committee, and oversaw the opening of the Bend Community Based Outpatient clinic while establishing the student externship there.

Richard Zimbalist, OD, FAAO, ABCMO

Richard J. Zimbalist received his optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2008 and then completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. He has been awarded Fellowship status in the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Zimbalist is currently on staff at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. In additional to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Zimbalist has authored multiple journal articles, serves as a peer-reviewer for a major ophthalmic journal, and is actively involved with teleretinal imaging and virtual medicine in his facility and region.

I Graduated from Pennsylvania college of Optometry in 2011 and completed my Residency at the Baltimore VA in 2012. I was an attending and residency director at the Baltimore VA until January of 2023. I now live and work in Virginia and looking forward to new chapters.

Ryan Terry, OD

Dr. Terry is an attending optometrist at the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center where he completed his Primary Care/Contact lens residency in 2017 and currently directs the specialty contact lens clinic. He is adjunct assistant professor at several optometry schools and maintains ABCMO certification.

Sara Weidmayer, OD, FAAO, ABCMO

Dr. Weidmayer graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry and completed her ocular disease residency at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI. She practices at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan.

Sarah Rogers, OD, FAAO

Dr. Rogers attended Illinois College of Optometry, and completed her residency there in Primary Care & Ocular Disease. She currently works at the VA in North Chicago.

Shale Beharie, OD

Dr. Beharie completed his BS in Biology with a Neuroscience minor from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2020. He then recieved his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Accelerated Scholars program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2024. He is currently practicing at the Visionworks in Waldorf, MD.

Shannon Cummings, OD

Dr. Cummings graduated from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry in 2019 and went on to complete a residency in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. She currently practices at a multi-specialty OD/MD practice in the Kansas City area. Dr. Cummings’ interests include managing glaucoma, retinal vascular disease and ocular manifestations of systemic disease.

Shelly Kim, OD. FAAO

Dr. Kim is the residency coordinator at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. She is also adjunct faculty at the Illinois College of Optometry.

Shikha Mehta, OD

Dr. Shikha Mehta graduated from New England College of Optometry with her optometry degree. She then completed her residency at the Minneapolis VA in primary care and low vision rehabilitation. Currently, she works at Target Optical in downtown Minneapolis.

Simmy Panchal, OD, FAAO, Dipl. ABO

Dr. Panchal graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2019 and completed an ocular disease, low vision and specialty contact lens residency at Ralph H. Johnson VAMC in Charleston, SC. She is currently a staff optometrist at Salisbury VAMC, where she largely precepts 4th year optometry externs, optometry residents and co-manages the specialty contact lens clinic.

Steve Njeru, OD, MS, FAAO

Dr. Njeru is a staff optometrist at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center. He graduated from The Ohio State University: College of Optometry and completed his ocular disease residency at the Chillicothe and Columbus VA. . He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Thanh T. Le OD, MPH, FAAO

Dr. Le received her optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2005. After graduation, she served in the U.S. Navy until 2011. She’s currently working at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Le is an adjunct assistant professor at several optometry schools.

Thomas Andrea OD, FAAO

Dr. Thomas Andrea is an attending Optometrist and instructor at the New England College of Optometry, and his clinical interests include the intersection of community health, ocular disease and dry eye. Dr. Andrea completed his residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the VA Boston Healthcare System in Brockton MA and resides in Plymouth MA with his wife. He is an avid runner, cook and self professed giant nerd.

Dr Shust got her undergraduate degree in microbiology at Penn State University and then went on to study at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She then completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the Wilmington Delaware VAMC. She now practices optometry at Kremer Eye Center in New Jersey.

Vincent Chan, OD, ABCMO

Dr. Chan, a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley's optometry program, honed his expertise through a residency in primary care and ocular disease at the Portland VA Medical Center. His commitment to veterans' eye health led him to join the Jonathan M. Wainwright Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington, before transitioning to his current role as a staff optometrist at the Salem Community Based Outpatient Clinic of the Portland VA Medical Center. William J. Denton, OD, FAAO, FSLS, FORS

Dr. Denton desires to be the mentor he felt he never had. He has mentored many and given his time to various optometric organizations through the last couple decades. His career desire is to be a true primary care optometrist who is able to treat any patient that comes in the clinic.
